The DOVE Center is proud to present the 1st Annual DOVE Center Duck Dash, held on
March 30, 2013 at Confluence Park in St. George, UT. The Duck Dash is a fundraising
event honoring the memory of Michelle Jones on the 2 year anniversary of her
passing. On February 17, 2011, Michelle, age 42, and her son Christopher Owen, age
19, were found dead by Washington City police with .45 caliber gunshot wounds to
the head. At about 8:50 pm, 911 received a call from Jones who said that her
husband had just shot her son, and now he was coming after her. And then the
phone went silent.

The anniversary of Jones’ murder gives Washington County citizens a moment to
pause and consider the gravity of domestic violence. While murder is uncommon,
many suffer from domestic violence every day. For 20 years, the DOVE Center has been committed to provide safe, caring, and confidential shelter, advocacy, and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and to reduce the incidents of abuse through prevention education.

The event will raise money for the DOVE center through a $30 race entrance fee and a $5 per duck Duck Dash entrance to sponsor a floating rubber duck with the chance to win prizes. All proceeds from the event will benefit the DOVE Center.

The DOVE Center is a federally registered 501(c)(3), tax ID# 87-0529095. All donations are tax deductible.

The DOVE Center is organizing the race in tandem with Jones’ friends at local business ContactPoint, where Michelle Jones worked for 7 years before her passing. To provide a sponsorship, donate directly, or support in any other way, please contact Lindsay Jeppson at ContactPoint. For more event info, visit http://dovecenterduckdash.com/. Thank you!
